So what exactly is functional medicine primary care?  According to the American Academy of family practice, primary care includes health promotion, disease prevention, health maintenance, counseling, patient education, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses in a variety of health care settings. Functional Medicine is a science-based approach to individualized care of the whole person. Functional medicine addresses the underlying root causes of disease. The practice of Functional Primary Care is designed to best support your body’s capacity to heal itself of disease and maximize wellness. 

Treatments in functional medicine utilize the latest research findings in nutrition, supplements, and other tools for restoring balance in the body's primary physiological processes. At times medications are necessary while we are identifying the individual patients root cause of disease.we treat the whole person, and not just the symptoms. 

Functional medicine addresses the underlying causes of disease  by shifting the traditional disease-centered focus of medical practice to a more patient-centered approach. Functional medicine addresses the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms.
